Steve Cockell
FOUNDER & DIRECTOR OF TENNIS
Steve set up TW Tennis in September 2021 with the aim of bringing high quality coaching and programs to his local community. Steve and his family have lived in Hampton Hill and Twickenham for over 12 years. Having put his children through the local schools and used the local parks, it was with great pride that he signed to work in partnership with Richmond Borough Council to set up TW Tennis in Carlisle Park and Kneller Gardens.
The programming and content on court for TW Tennis has been created using Steve's 25 years as a professional tennis coach and tennis coaching services operator. He has run community and club programs across SW London in a number of different ways which included working at the National Tennis Centre and in Wimbledon. Some of his coaching operations have even included managing programs across Europe in tennis resorts in Portugal, Tenerife and Cyprus.

LEVEL 4 LTA ACCREDITED COACH / FORMER NATIONAL PLAYER
Steve is an Level 4 LTA Accredited "Performance" Coach. This means that he has qualified to teach performance players with competitive aspirations as well as club players and players new to the game. He is a highly respected coach across both Surrey and Middlesex and is the current Richmond borough tennis captain for the junior borough games 2025.
As a player, Steve was highly ranked as a junior in his county of Essex winning several high profile junior events in his development years. He then received a scholarship to the US to the University of North Alabama where he played and studied for 2 years. Following this, he finishes his higher level education at the University of Roehampton, where he also played for the Roehampton Club in the premier division of the Surrey Senior leagues. He was selected to play Senior County tennis for Essex in Division 1 in 1997 and then went on to reach the GB national finals for Over 35 players in his senior years, losing in the final at the AELTC.
