PERFORMANCE SQUAD TENNIS
We have a range of classes that are organised and delivered by Steve Cockell for high level performnance junior players. The main aim with our squad program is to help players get ready and play in competitions from local level up to national standard events.
Junior Squad Training
TW Tennis offers players who are at a higher level of play the chance to develop their skills and prepare for regular competitions. The squad program is run and delivered by Head Coach Steve Cockell who was a former county player, national junior and played US College tennis in Alabama.
To access the squad program, Steve invites players who show the right level of skill and attitude to thrive in competitive tennis. There is also a level of commitment required to take part as well as participating in tennis events throughout the year. You can be invited via our annual trials day or you can be selected to trial at various points during the year.
Squad Age Groups
There are 3 different age groups that we focus on for squad training:
- 11&U - Orange & Green Ball Tennis Players (Year 5&6 at school)
- 14&U - Yellow Ball Tennis Players
(Year 7&8 at school)
- 16&U - Yellow Ball Tennis Players
(Year 9&10 at school)
Players may be asked to play at a higher squad level if that is more suitable for their development.

- Good skill level in main areas - ground-strokes, serve & return
- Understanding of tactics in main areas - starting the point, exchanges and attack vs defence
- Coachable attitude and respect for other players and the coach

My son has been having lessons with Steve and is part of his tennis squad and loves it! The training is top level and the attention to his development is very detailed, well organised and delivered at high energy. My son has moved from Grade 5 to Grade 3 events and is loving his tennis tournaments and getting results now! Highly recommend it.
